You can use GPGMail, Mail.app and GMAIL IMAP and ensure that your drafts are encrypted. The reported issue related to un-ecrypted drafts accessibility in Gmail IMAP are based on poor configuration and practices on the user end. Users should ensure they have the latest release of GPGTools installed correctly.
Review your GPGMail Settings in key areas:
- Make sure that you review System Preferences to determine how your key is stored.
- Set how GPGMail is configured to Compose in Mail.APP by reviewing Mail.APP>Preferences>GPGMail.
- You can select if Drafts are encrypted optionally.
- You can set if all messages are encrypted.
- If you have any key management issues they may be the result of pre-release installs, re-download GPGMail manually to ensure proper update.
- Review you GMAIL IMAP Setting and the Google APPS Documentation. You may want to consider Exclude folders for Gmail IMAP and Labels works slightly differently. (If you poorly configured Gmail you will have an issue; Review reference to Google Apps Admin documentation.)
Gmail Users that disable IMAP will only compound poorly configured Mail.app and GPGMail users issues.
